We heartily recommend ballooning in East Africa; both to first timers and those who have made an ascent before, because no other aerial experience can compare with this exhilarating hawks eye view of Kenya’s Masai Mara or Tanzania’s Serengeti. As your flight floats you across the great vast plains in your gondola in the sky, you may see the famous wildebeest migration heading north in search of better grasslands.
Briefing //..
Wake up at 5.00 a.m. and dress warm. A cup of tea or coffee comes handy at 5.30 a.m before you board Balloon Company’s land cruiser to head to the launch site. Don’t forget “hat” because the hot air that runs the balloon circulates and may dawn on you. Your hat should have strap, as your pair of binoculars and cameras. Put on shoes and long pants rather than sandals or shorts. You only need jacket to keep you warm before and after balloon ride, because during flight it is warm air.
At the launch site the pilot shall brief you again. Usually there is another cup of tea or coffee available. Board and depart at around 6.15 a.m. for a 1 hour flight. You shall receive landing instructions from your pilot, whereby the categories of landing to expect are: fine, very fine and extremely fine!
On landing, the balloon crew will set up a bush breakfast fit for a king, or queen and the pilots will toss to your accomplishment with chilled champagne. With breakfast done our experienced guides will take you on board our regular vehicles for a game drive looking for the big five. Those who will simply wish to return to the lodge to rest, we provide so for them and everybody’s next game drive is in the afternoon.
The beauty of the wilderness as seen from the early morning African skies is an unchallenged experience we strongly recommend to all our guests.
Serengeti Balloon, Tanzania //..
We specialize in Tanzania Balloon Safaris -Serengeti Balloon Safaris, Tanzania Balloon Safaris, Balloon Adventure Safaris In Tanzania, Serengeti Balloon Safaris.
5:00 am, Serengeti Balloon Safaris will collect you from your central Serengeti lodge or camp, and transfer you by Land rover to our launch site near Masai Kopjes. Here you will meet your pilot, receive a briefing and watch the inflation of your balloon.
At dawn we take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below.
At other times he will ascend to 1000′ or more to see the enormity and wonderful panorama of the Serengeti. From time to time the pilot must put more heat into the balloon with the powerful whisper burners. In between these burns, there is silence apart from the natural sounds below.
The flight is for about one hour depending on conditions, on landing you celebrate in the traditional manner with champagne (well, an excellent sparkling wine), before sitting down to a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush in ‘Out of Africa’ style with bone china, linen table cloths, King’s silver etc.
After breakfast you receive your Serengeti Balloon certificate and we drive you back to Seronera Lodge game viewing en route. 9:30 am Arrive at Seronera ready to continue.
Important Note //..
This adventure will fit in with all safari itineraries that include a night in central Serengeti (Serena Lodge, Seronera Lodge or Sopa Lodge or any of the central Serengeti camp sites)
