This country offers something for everyone. Highlights include some of the highest sand dunes in the world, at Sossusvlei, historical and cultural experiences, a variety of geological formations and ecosystems, and abundant wildlife, adapted in unique ways to the desert climate and conditions.

Day 1

Leave Khowarib Lodge with guide and back up staff and head north to Opuwo. Mix with the Himba and Herero women in this bustling market town. Continue onto Ruacana and camp by the Kunene River on the Angolan border. Meal Plan {B,L,D}

Day 2

After breakfast, drive west along the Kunene to Swartboois drift and visit the Dorsland Trekkers Monument. Camp by the Kunene River. Meal Plan {B,L,D}

Day 3

Drive through spectacular scenery enjoying the palm trees along the banks of the river. Possible crocodile sighting, and many interesting birding opportunities. Arrive at Epupa Falls and have a sundowner on the observation point overlooking the falls. Dinner and overnight at Epupa Falls Lodge. Meal Plan {B,L,D}

Day 4

Leave Epupa and head west into the most remote part of the region. Drive on rough tracks through Otjitanda and begin to traverse the Van Zils Pass. Wild camping overlooking the Marienfluss. Meal Plan {B,L,D}

Day 5

Extreme driving down the pass into the Marienfluss. Drive north to camp by the Kunene River. Meal Plan {B,L,D}

Day 6

Today you drive through the beautiful Hartmann Valley seeing Oryx in this harsh environment. Pass “Red Drum” to camp by the Khumib River. Meal Plan {B,L,D}

Day 7

Drive south via the Hoarusib River bed to reach the township of Purros. Overnight in camping. Drive up the Hoanib River searching for desert elephant. Continue via Sesfontein to Khowarib Lodge, where we started. Meal Plan {B,L,D}
