Best of Botswana – 9 Days

VICTORIA FALLS – CHOBE N. PARK – OKAVANGO DELTA – KALAHARI. [9 DAYS]

Day 1: Victoria Falls – Chobe National Park- Botswana //..

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Chobe National Park in Botswana via the Kazungula Border. Transfer to Mowana lodge to relax a bit before lunch. After lunch, relax more in the lodge gardens and at 3.00 p.m, you will proceed for an afternoon/sunset cruise along the Chobe River, where you will watch game in the comfort of your boat while sipping a sundowner. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight: Mowana Lodge / Kubu Lodge or similar. Meal Plan {B,L,D}

Day 2: Chobe National Park //..

Early morning game before breakfast and return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, relax at the lodge enjoying the beautiful gardens, or maybe take a swim in the pool to cool off the desert heat. After lunch wait for the sun to cool down and depart for another game drive until sunset when you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight: Mowana Lodge / Kubu Lodge or Similar. Day 3: Chobe National Park –Okavango Delta //..

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to Kasane Airport for your flight to Mapula Lodge. Upon arrival at the Xarakai Airstrip, transfer to Mapula Lodge in the Okavango Delta. The transfer takes less than ten minutes. You will arrive in time for a late lunch and after lunch, relax until late afternoon when you will be taken for a Mokoro ride in the lagoon and twisting waterways of the Okavango Delta. At sunset you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight: Mapula Lodge/Odaballs Lodge or similar. Meal Plan: {B,L,D}

Day 4: Okavango Delta //..

Spend the day in the delta starting with early morning game drive. Breakfast at your lodge, then visit the nearby village for a cultural experience, if the floods are over.  If flooded, then you just continue with game drive or Mokoro rides until sunset and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight: Mapula Lodge/Odaballs Lodge or similar. Meal Plan: {B,L,D}

Camp Moremi – Land Camp – 11 East African style tents on teak platforms – offers the opportunity of seeing Africa’s big game by safari 4×4 vehicle, all the major game can be seen, Cape buffalo, elephant, lion, many species of antelope, giraffe and even wild dog.  Camp Moremi also offers motorized boat activities.

Camp Okavango – Water Camps – 11 East African style tents on teak platforms or Xugana Island Lodge – 8 reed & thatch chalets – At these camps experience the magic of the waters of the Delta, lagoons, channels, the resultant aquatic pant life, relax in dugout canoes or explore the waterways by motorized boat. Guided game walks are also offered at these two camps.

Day 5: Okavango Delta – Gaborone – Khutse Game Reserve in the Kalahari Desert //..

After early breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to the air strip for your charter flight to Maun where you will connect onto flight to Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana. After arrival, our driver guide will pick you up and drive to Khutse Game Reserve in the Kalahari arriving for late lunch. After lunch relax a bit, before proceeding for an afternoon game drive until sunset in this Central Kalahari Desert game reserve. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight: Khutse Game Lodge. Day 6: Explore Khutse Game Reserve (Kalahari Desert) //..

After breakfast, take a nature walk with a bushman guide who will explain to you the lifestyle of the Basarwa (Bushmen) and how they manage to survive the harsh Kalahari sun. Return to the lodge for lunch, and after lunch relax until late afternoon when you will take a game drive. Dinner and overnight: Khutse Kalahari Lodge or similar. Meal Plan: {B,L,D}

Day 7 Khutse Game Reserve /Bahurutse Cultural Center //..

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to Bahurutshe Cultural Village where you will be welcomed by the villagers headed by the chief, his wives and children, who will burst into song and dance before involving you into the village chores. You will witness traditional wedding ceremony and witchdoctor predictions guided by his ancestors. After the dance you will be treated to a traditional lunch, and more traditional dances. Stay overnight. Dinner and overnight: Bahurutshe Cultural Village. Meal Plan: {B,L,D}

Day 8 Bahurutse Cultural Center/Gaborone //..

After breakfast, drive to Gaborone via Livingstone Memorial where Dr. David Livingstone had his house, taught bible lessons to the local Batswana and where his daughter and friend are buried after dying from Malaria. Also visit a local Kgotla the Village Chiefs Palace where the whole village is governed from and pay homage to the Chief. After the visit, drive straight to Gaborone to check-in at the Gaborone Sun Hotel, or similar. Lunch at Linga Longa in the River Walk Mall and after lunch proceed for a City Tour of Gaborone, which includes a visit to the Parliament Buildings, Statue of the Three Chiefs, Main Mall and the National Museum. Time allowing, pass through the Botswana Marketing Craft, where you can get crafts from all parts of Botswana before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight: Gaborone Sun Hotel or similar. Day 9:  Gaborone (Botswana) – Johannesburg (South Africa) or Windhoek (Namibia) //..

If you are departing on a morning flight, check out of the hotel after breakfast and transfer to Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone to catch your flight to Johannesburg, Windhoek  or home. If your flight is in the afternoon, then there is time to go for a short tour of Lady Detective Series and trace Mma Ramotswe (Fictional character in Alexander McCall Smith’s Novel) starting with Mochudi, her birth place. After the tour, transfer to Sir Seretse Khama International Airport for your onward flight to Johannesburg, or Windhoek. End of Safari.
