CLIMB MT. KENYA [4 Days]

SIRIMON ROUTE UP & DOWN.

Day 1 :: Old Moses Camp //..

Depart Nairobi, or Nanyuki early morning and drive through Kikuyu countryside to the slopes of Mt. Kenya arriving Nanyuki Town in time for lunch. After lunch, proceed to Sirimon Park Gate (1 hr). Start hiking from this point to Old Moses Camp – 9 km (3300m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 :: Shipton Camp //..

Depart in the morning for Shipton Camp along Mackinders Valley with picnic lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp – 4200m.

Day 3 :: Point Lenana-Old Moses //..

Summit day! Depart camp at 3.00am and start ascending towards Point Lenana (4985m) to arrive approx. 6.30am for the sunrise. When the weather is clear, Mt. Kilimanjaro Kibo and Mawenzi peaks are visible. Descend to Shipton Camp for breakfast, and then proceed further down to Old Moses Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 :: Nairobi //..

After breakfast, descend through the rain forest to Sirimon Park Gate for our transport back to Nanyuki and onwards to Nairobi.

What’s Included: Bed & Breakfast accommodation at your base hotel <> Transfer to and from Sirimon Gate, Driver, Car, Guide, Park fees, Rescue Fees, Lunch and Dinner + bottle of water or bottle of juice each day. NB: Accommodation varies from dormitories – communal bathrooms & toilets – to a few double and single rooms to traditional camping, to a few bandas with complete bathroom amenities. Advance booking is highly recommended to catch the best available accommodation!

What’s Not Included: Personal nature expenses, medication or tipping to any guide, mountain staff, and others.

CLIMB KILIMANJARO [4 Days]

MARANGU ROUTE

The Marangu or main route is by far the most popular way to the summit. The ascent is more gradual and no professional equipment is required. The accommodation on the way up and down is provided in mountain huts with all the basic necessities. There are 60 bunk beds each (for 60 people each) at Mandara Hut (2700m) and Kibo Hut (4700m), and 120 bunk beds (for 120 people) at Horombo Hut (3720m) which is also used for descent. Climbers are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags should be brought along. There are communal dining halls, washrooms and toilets.

It usually takes 5 days/4nights for the round trip. The trek can also be taken in 6 days/5 nights to add acclimatization with an extra day at Horombo Huts. The supplementary cost for an extra day is indicated separately as an option.

OR: MACHAME ROUTE

This is probably the most scenic route up Kilimanjaro. The accommodation on the way up and down is strictly camping (mobile tents) only.  This trek is strenuous and may be better suited to more adventurous hikers. The Machame route is normally completed in a minimum of 6 days/5nights on the mountain.

LET’S DO MARANGU ROUTE & NOT NECESSARILY TO THE SUMMIT. SHOULD YOU WISH TO REACH THE SUMMIT – REMEMBER AIR GETS THINNER UP THERE! -, PLEASE CONTACT US FOR A MORE COMPREHENSIVE QUOTATION.

Day 1:: Leave early from your Marangu Base Hotel, or from Moshi Town, or Arusha.  

Arrive at Marangu Gate on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. Do the necessary paperwork at the park gate such as registrations. Begin hiking at about 1000hrs. Hike through the rainforest from the park gate (6000 ft) to Mandara Hut (9000 ft), taking about 4 hours. Overnight at Mandara Hut.

Day 2 :: Hike to Horombo Huts (12,000 ft) //..

Wake to breakfast (approx. 7:30 am) and pack for the next leg. Break camp at about
8:30 am and hike to Horombo Huts (12,000 ft). This leg should take 5 to 6 hrs. You travel through lower heath land with small shrubs being the main vegetation. Stop halfway for lunch. Views of Mawenzi are amazing. The summit of Kibo can be seen from Horombo Huts. Arrive at Horombo Huts at about 3 PM. Rest, unpack, and prepare for dinner. Bathrooms are available with running water. Mandara Hut (9,000 ft) – Horombo Huts (12,000 ft), Hiking time: 6 hours Habitat: Heathland.

[OPTIONAL]: Extra Day for Acclimatization.

Day 3 :: Walking around at Horombo Huts //..

You may have an extra day at Horombo Huts, where will have a full day (the second and third night will be at Horombo), clients will go up to Mawenzi base camp and come back to Horombo Hut. Clients will acclimatize, walking around at Horombo hut. Forth Day will continue walking down to Mandara then to Marangu gate and transferred to Moshi.

Day 4 :: Descend to Mandara Huts //..

Wake up, as usual, pack, and descend to Mandara Huts. Take lunch there and continue on to the park gate where you will be met by your transport back to hotel. You should reach the park gate around 2 or 3 PM.

Half Board accommodation at your base hotel <> Transfer to and from Marangu Gate, Driver, Car, Guide and a Porter, Park fees, Rescue Fees, Lunch and Dinner + bottle of water or bottle of Juice each day. NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT IF ANY CLIENT STAYS IN A SINGLE ROOM – THERE IS SRS US$ 50 PER PERSON PER NIGHT.
