A note from the sponsor. In July 2011, Nancy and George Proctor travelled to Kenya with Jacko Africa Safaris. As part of our trip, we visited a Masai village known as Oltome Cultural Boma. During our visit and interaction with Richard, a commitment to build a borehole well for the village was made. We found a willing partner in Jackson K. Wekesa, owner and managing director of Jacko Africa Safaris, Nairobi. For a full year, Jackson worked tirelessly to secure permits, hire the necessary workmen, and oversee the project in Kenya. In September 2012, a full year after the project began, we returned to Kenya and with Jackson and the community watched with amazement as the well was drilled, and clean fresh water flowed. The village had a great celebration in which Nancy, George and Jackson took part. The photos and comments on this page are intended to serve as a history of this event. To Jackson we are deeply indebted for making this project a success from your hard work and patience. To the community, we say you have touched our hearts and we offer this well in hope that it will make your life and that of your future generations easier, healthier, and more comfortable. For all of you have taught us about your way of life, we say: Ashe Oleng! – Thank you! In lasting friendship, Nancy & George Proctor |
